John Joseph Bohrer, a well known and highly respected resident of South Erie, passed away at the late residence, No. 355 West Twenty-ninth street, Wednesday evening at 8:25 o’clock. Mr. Bohrer had been ill since last July, but has only been confined to his bed for the past three weeks. Everything possible was done for him, but he gradually failed until death ended his sufferings.
The announcement of his death will be read with sincere regret and the sympathy of a wide circle of friends will be extended to Mrs. Bohrer and her children. Deceased was born and always lived in Erie.
He was a car builder for the Lake Shore Railroad company, the past five years and previous to that time worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad company for sixteen years. He was an honest and upright man and enjoyed the respect and confidence of all who knew him. He leaves to mourn his wife, formerly Miss Margaret Franz, four sons, Herman, Frank, Harry, and August Bohrer, three daughters, Mrs. Charles Veit, Miss Margaret Bohrer and Miss Marie Bohrer, and one grandchild. He is further survived by one half-brother, George Heintz and one half-sister, Mrs. Charles Berchtold.
Mr. Bohrer was a charter member of the Firemen Relief association. The funeral will take place from the late residence No. 355 West Twenty-ninth street, Saturday morning at 8:30 and from St. Joseph’s church at 9 o’clock. Interment will take place in Trinity cemetery.
